Derren Brown/Broken Glass: OTP, Apparently.

This is a picture (courtesy of

lincolnimp) of Derren Brown lying on a great deal of broken glass.

Something Wicked This Way Comes was the first of Derren Brown's works I saw, and it is still one of my favourites. He hammers a nail up his nose and deprives himself of oxygen and walks on glass and has a man stand on his face and asks an audience member to slap him. I love it for all the wrong reasons.

(I swear I do not usually find pain this attractive. There is just something about Derren Brown injuring himself that is really, really hot.)

To finish on a slightly less horrifying note: here (YouTube link) is an incredibly lovely piece of music from Ōkami. I love that game so much. Its style is so beautiful, and it is so much fun, and, whilst I hesitate to pin down any one videogame as my absolute favourite, Ōkami would almost certainly be in my top three. Let's all listen to the piece and put this glasswalking business behind us.

See, I nearly took the commentbox question as 'who would you like to have Derren Brown snuggle up to instead of broken glass?' and I was like 'well, Jack Harkness seems like a good choice for that sort of thing, or maybe Robbie Williams, but then I can't imagine Derren and Robbie doing much snuggling'.

As it is, I left it blank, because I'd rather not see people snuggle up to broken glass.

Derren Brown is a stage magician/'psychological illusionist', who uses tricks to psychologically influence people or appear to read minds. He's not a charlatan; he's often said outright that he doesn't believe in psychic ability and that his 'mind-reading' effects are just trickery and reading external cues. Some of the psychological things he does are really weird, though. This is one of my favourites.

Also, he can be really, really scary.

And sometimes he lies on broken glass and it is hot.

There is no option in your poll for I want to scritch and maybe snug him in a non-sexual way. :|

*sigh* The sad thing is that compared to the people I am normally attracted to, seeing that picture and going "Mmmm, yes please" is practically normal. As a side note, I think what makes it so sexy (for me at least) is the hands behind the back. That's a good pose.

Well, that's made my evening. *stares at picture for ~~a bit~~ a long time*

Its presence on my journal just improves everything. I sort of want to avoid making new entries and pushing it down.

Well, wrong though we might be, we are apparently nowhere near alone in our appalling attraction to glasswalking Derren Brown. I am pleased by this.

Well HELLO. I've not had enough time on the internet etc over the past few days to give all your recent Derren Brown posts all the care and attention they deserve, but here I am on this one. I don't even know what the hell it is about Something Wicked and/or glass and/or whatever the hell else, but I know I have had conversations with more than one person, generally our first discussing him as a shared fandom, in which "That bit where he lay on the glass, was it me or was that hot?" came up fairly quickly. Verdict so far seems to have been unanimously that no, it was hot. I don't even know. Thank god he's back on tv.

I think it's the comedy font and bizarrely grainy picture quality that makes it. I seem to remember it was also briefly removed from photobucket for violating their TOS, which is inexplicably hilarious.
