rionaleonhart: final fantasy x-2: the sun is rising, yuna looks to the future. (MAN I'M AWESOME)

These Are My Confessions.

If I knew a person with the surname 'Dayter', and if this Dayter were planning to go out for a meal with someone, and if I happened to be informing another party of this, I could express it in the terms 'Dayter's gonna date'.

But I don't, and Dayter isn't, and I'm not, so I can't.

In unrelated news, Glee is such fun! It's not a great work of televisual fiction, but it doesn't try to be, so I don't hold that against it. Watching an episode is like eating a packet of chocolate buttons; it's not especially nutritious or filling, but you certainly enjoy it whilst you're doing it.

Thus far, I have metaphorically eaten six metaphorical packets of metaphorical chocolate buttons, and they have been delicious. I find myself really liking Will/Emma, which is odd, because usually I shy away from pairings that the canon is obviously trying to make me 'ship. I'd have expected the contrary beast within me to go 'YOU CAN'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO; I'M 'SHIPPING WILL/RACHEL'. Which I also do.

(I seem to be in quite a hetshipping phase at the moment, don't I? Will/Emma, Will/Rachel, Mitchell/Hawes, Jane/Coren, Jane/Van Pelt. Although I suppose the Jane pairings are cheating, given that I 'ship him with everyone.)

Still not experiencing any desire to get involved in the Glee fandom, though. I hope that doesn't change; I think I'd actually feel sort of guilty if I abandoned all my barely-written-for fandoms for one that already has thousands of writers. (Actually, with a cast that seems to be consciously composed almost entirely of stereotypes, I'm having trouble imagining how I would even go about writing for it. These aren't characters! I can't be invested in them!)

I am massively enjoying the musical numbers. A particular favourite is the drug-enhanced performance of the It's My Life/Confessions mashup, only in part because Finn's facial expressions are hilarious.

OK so I bloody love Glee. It's naff, it's dreadful in places, but then all of a sudden I realise I'm grinning or sobbing like a loon and all is well :)

Oooh and that mashup is WIN.

Will/Emma is a wonderful pairing, and yes, even though I normally stay away from pairings that the canon wants me to follow, I love this one so much. <3

They are the cutest things since cuteness began. ^_^ Emma is adorable.

Dayter's gonna date her, I would assume. Unless, of course, Dayter's gonna date Dieter, which is always a possibility.

So the extent of my knowledge for Glee is that when people heard that Fringe was doing a "musical episode" (which, in Fringe weirdness style, is noir and contains singing corpses) people pretty much went "goddamn it, Glee". ...Which isn't much at all really!

[identity profile] culf.livejournal.com 2010-07-08 02:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Because I am weak, I sort of ship Puck/Kurt, but most of the fic out there is pretty dire.
However, Chris Colfer (Kurt) just got nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. That's pretty impressive for a guy who's doing his first professional acting job. He did say he deserves an Emmy for slushing himself, though. Maybe he'll get it.

If you want another tiny fandom to support with you writing, [livejournal.com profile] codexfawkes are very much loving and needing more writers. (Pimping? What do you mean, pimping? I just love the comm so much.)

[identity profile] culf.livejournal.com 2010-07-09 10:45 am (UTC)(link)
I think I've basically shipped Kurt with Puck because he was the best available option. All the other guys in Glee just seem so painfully straight. Finn in particular. I also have other reasons not to ship Kurt/Finn, that you will come across later in the season.

And I don't think anyone ships Kurt/Burt. Just the idea makes my soul cry.

Mark Salling, the guy who plays Puck, has a tendency to reference slash in his twitter and interviews. He linked Chris Colfer to a Puck/Kurt fanvid, saying "They're onto us!" and requested some Puck/Artie vids, because the ship name would be Partie.
(I'm still cringing over the fact that the show itself mentioned the ship name Puckleberry.)

Will is so incredibly inappropriate in that song. I love the dance number and the singing, but Will is acting in a way that is so not okay for a high school teacher when with his students!

Kurt mouthing "Oh my God" really makes the scene. *loves her Kurt so much*

How long until you watch Wheels?

I have spent a little bit of time collecting. Thank you, [livejournal.com profile] ontd_startrek!

Wheels is a great episode! One of my absolute favorites.
Going in, you should know that Chris Colfer's school had a talent show every year, and every year, he would beg to sing Defying Gravity from Wicked, but they always told him he couldn't because it's traditionally sung by a girl.

Vitamin D is a wonderful episode if only for the fact that they're all SO ENERGETIC when they perform those songs. It makes me giggle more than the show usually does. xD

I really like Glee as well. I mean, I know I shouldn't (at least some part of me says that I shouldn't, anyway) but it's just so... happy. And cheery. And filled with sugar and additives. It's like a blue raspberry slush - you know there is nothing good or healthy about it, but the taste of blue is just so nice :D ... yes, I am comparing Glee to food. IDK why. It seemed appropriate.

[identity profile] ladyofshallnot.livejournal.com 2010-07-08 03:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Ew, Glee. ): I just can't get past some of its more problematic elements, alas.

[identity profile] culf.livejournal.com 2010-07-09 10:47 am (UTC)(link)
If it helps, I think the creators saw how much people complained about this, and thus they got more screen time and character development in the back 9 episodes. The characters themselves even acknowledges the flaws later on, and complain about being pushed to the background.

[identity profile] darkest-alchemy.livejournal.com 2010-07-08 04:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't even know what Glee is about, but I'm sure I'd hate it. LOL

You've given me a craving for chocolate buttons now (not metaphorical ones).

[identity profile] darkest-alchemy.livejournal.com 2010-07-09 04:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I generally can't stand things with singing in. However, I think Supernatural should have a musical episode (with inexplicable Derren Brown. And Sooty. Just because). I suspect Castiel attempting to sing some chirpy pop song would be the funniest thing ever.

I think you owe me some chocolate buttons now. ;D

[identity profile] ficliously.livejournal.com 2010-07-08 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm holding off on commenting on your new-found Glee love until you reach the back nine...so much love for the back nine. :3

This is the only Glee icon I have and I'm using it despite its inappropriateness because Kurt is just so FIERCE.

[identity profile] rimon.livejournal.com 2010-07-08 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I adore Glee. It's just such a fun series! I love that the characters are basically stereotypes but I'm still made to care about them. I'm not involved in Glee fandom and I have no idea what it's like, but I'm not opposed to taking part in it. I'm just lazy.

Who are your favourite characters? What other musical numbers did you particularly enjoy?

[identity profile] fireholly.livejournal.com 2010-07-09 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)
"Dayter" is the fan nickname for the voice actor for Solid Snake, David Hayter. He's happily married, though, so that doesn't really help.

[identity profile] fireholly.livejournal.com 2010-07-09 07:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Also the comments on this post just reinforce that I'm the only one who watches Glee as a black comedy/parody rather than as happy fluff. Um.

[identity profile] amy-wolf.livejournal.com 2010-07-10 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
This post makes me crave chocolate. Also, I'm trying to figure out if there's some pronunciation of "Deter" that sounds like "Dayter" so that never-to-be-written Dexter/Kingdom Hearts crossover where Dexter is a Nobody can incorporate this particular terrible joke (if the fic is never written it doesn't need to be any good).

Also UNCLE IROH IS THE SINGLE GREATEST AND MOST AWESOME CHARACTER IN THE HISTORY OF TELEVISION!

[identity profile] amy-wolf.livejournal.com 2010-07-10 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
"I will never ever turn my back on people who need me!"

I love Katara kind of a lot right now.

[identity profile] mogamus-ii.livejournal.com 2010-07-10 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, you know how much I love Glee already (: I'm glad you're enjoying it.
(That mashup is a favourite of mine, too.)
