rionaleonhart: final fantasy x-2: the sun is rising, yuna looks to the future. (oh very well)

Thank You For Having Us, David.

I grinned the whole way through the final episode of The Bubble. I love that both Hart and Khorsandi are clearly Mitchell/Webb 'shippers. I love that they had cause; 'my David' was the most adorable thing I've heard in weeks. (Mitchell's reaction made me laugh extremely hard.)

Here is the first part of the episode on YouTube; do watch at least up to 3.20 if you would like to see Mitchell and Webb being cute. (The other parts, if you decide to watch the entire thing, are here and here. If you just want to see more Mitchell-and-Webb adorableness, watch from 7.05 to 7.25 on the third part, and 1.30 to 1.40 isn't technically Mitchell and Webb being adorable together but might make you smile.)

Please commission a second series, BBC! And have Robert Webb on again, because it is great when he and Mitchell are together. ALSO, CHARLIE BROOKER. You have missed an amazing opportunity in not having him for this series, but I shall forgive you if you bring him in for the second. If you're worried about finding people he won't want to kill after half an hour in the Bubble, fear not; there's no need to bother with other guests for the week with Brooker, because he and Mitchell will just spend the entire recording snogging arguing, same thing.

It was really nice to see the Mitchell-and-Webb friendship on this episode of The Bubble, because their relationship sort of perplexes and worries me on occasion. They talk in interviews sometimes about consciously trying to spend less time together and always being very polite to each other because they're afraid of having a proper row, which sounds a bit stilted and unhealthy, but then they appear together on this and laugh and joke and Webb looks immensely distressed at That Bit in the quickfire round and, awww, they really are friends. ♥

Wait a moment: is Mitchell's wonderfully bickery relationship with Brooker in part because he's having all the arguments with him that he can't have with Webb? Hmmm.

On an entirely unrelated note: here is an amazing orchestral rendition of the Metal Gear Solid 2/3 theme. Even if you're not familiar with Metal Gear Solid (or perhaps especially if you're not familiar with it, because then you won't be familiar with the theme, and the theme is gorgeous), I'd recommend listening to it. I sobbed.

Eeeeeee! Yes, there was much cute. We were sitting on the far left so I couldn't see Webb's face during that question, just that he squirmed. CUTE! They were kidding around in the breaks together too, sticking their egs out and shaking their feet up and down repeatedly. Twas amusing.

It was so SWEET and Miranda and Shappi totally shipped them. MY DAVID. WE ALL KNOW ABBY IS DAVID. Looking after Robert for him! Bless!

And then Jeremy Clarkson wanted Bill Bailey on his lap on QI. It's been a good night for slash.

I've always thought that this kind of thing was a bit of an exaggeration.

The episode gave me big smiles because of the amount of time the two spent just giggling. Rarely do we hear David's genuine cackle laugh as much as we did in yesterday's Bubble :D

I'm just glad someone else got confused with the fact that there's also a novelist David Mitchell. XP That was a point of real perplexity for me the first few times you started talking about this guy.

[identity profile] derryderrydown.livejournal.com 2010-03-27 03:31 pm (UTC)(link)
A large number of my friends thought my wibbling about Charlie Brooker was actually about Charlie Boorman. Charlie Boorman/David Mitchell (novelist) could be a new pairing in its own right!

I've rewatched the 'my David' bit so many times! David's expression is ridiculously adorable.

That orchestral version of the MGS thing was absolutely lovely, and I think I can guess where you started sobbing, because I started sobbing too. Why do I have emotional attachment to a game I've never played D:

I love their friendship so much. I watched this episode just to see their interaction, and actually clapped my hands together with glee at the "My David" bit. I loved how they were just joking with each other and not letting the others get a word in edgeways; and poor Robert Webb's face at that bit in the last round. I wanted to cuddle him. (I also desperately wanted the two to hug at the end while the credits were rolling, but no joy there.)

I love this episode of The Bubble, not only for the Mitchell&Webb tinhattery moments (''my David'), but for the lovely Shappi Khorsandi.

And yes - there absolutely HAS to be a new series with Brooker on there. No questioning it - the BBC needs a programme where Mitchell & Brooker get all smoochy argumentative and debative. If it's a word, which, if it isn't, it now is.

I am watching it now and they are clearly in love. My Mitchell/Brooker shipping tendencies are getting a battering, because, obviously it's Mitchell/Webb all the way.

(David's reaction to 'my David' was AMAZING. One second he has hugely widened eyes and the next he's visibly hiding behind water, and then he's got a slight blush over his forehead?)

They are so adorable. I know what you mean about them talking about not fighting, but I've always interpreted that to mean they're just very careful around each other -- the way one is around anything that's precious and delicate.

While trying to find the Bubble on youtube last night, I wound up finding the Robert and Abby ep of All Star Mr and Mrs and they were also very adorable. I have no idea what they were doing on such an odd show, but it was fun to see them interacting and how much they clearly adore each other (and David, who gets mentioned a couple times).

:D Wasn't it marvelous?!? I never know what I think of Robert Webb (mainly because he doesn't do as many public appearances as David so he's more of an enigma, I think) but I really enjoyed seeing them interact together so playfully. And "my David" was OMG adoooorable. I want some happy ending Mitchell/Webb fic now.

Am I wrong in thinking that having Webb on somehow made The Bubble feel...complete? Is it because they are married? I think it is.

[identity profile] amy-wolf.livejournal.com 2010-03-27 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Aw, Mitchell and Webb are cute like puppies and kittens romping in a meadow with rainbows! And the distressed face!

There could be fic where Mitchell and Webb are in love and all sweet and adorable and Mitchell's just a little bit frustrated, then he and Charlie Brooker argue a lot and end up kissing, and then David feels terribly guilty, and there's an awkward attempt at a three-way relationship, then they settle on David Mitchell having two boyfriends and Webb and Brooker just being good friends.

I also want fic where they're filming the David Mitchell And His Boyfriends episode of The Bubble (although he'd need another boyfriend) and it turns out there's a ghost in the house.

I've flown Air New Zealand to Tonga before, and yet I guessed completely wrong on that story. Air New Zealand passes out champagne like mad when they're flying you anyway, so it's hard to tell what's an exceptional level of drinking.

THIS LINK-LINED ROAD TO TINHATTERY

By which I mean, Mitchell and Webb are pretty adorable to watch. I wish there was a TV show where they just played themselves talking about topics submitted by the audience or, if that fails, the news.

Also, that orchestral rendition is amazing. Thank you for posting it!

[identity profile] squeemu.livejournal.com 2010-03-28 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
And I can't believe there aren't more moments where they show us what the celebrities locked up in the Bubble are doing! If this was an American show, I am pretty sure the entire thing would just be, "Three celebrities are locked in a house together!" instead of, "Three celebrities are locked in a house together and then talk about the news in witty ways!" I think this is a pretty key difference between U.S. and British culture, really.

[identity profile] misskass.livejournal.com 2010-03-28 04:53 am (UTC)(link)
Orchestral reimaginings of video game music are some of my favourite things ever, and this one is no disappointment. *__* I'm dying of how brilliant this is, it's ridiculous.

Also I am completely jealous of Sydneysiders who got to see Eminence. They never came to Melbourne and I'm pretty sure they're not performing any more, at least in the near future. D8

I think this was possibly the cutest Bubble ever (so far). I just want lots and lots of Mitchell&Webb fic in which there are no unclothed shenanigans of any kind, they just talk to each other and make daisy chains and call each other rude names and tell lies. Or something.
