rionaleonhart: final fantasy x-2: the sun is rising, yuna looks to the future. (NOOOOOOOOO)

I Think You'll Find This One Even Softer.

So I suddenly and unexpectedly fell in crazy love with Derren Brown at around 3.00-4.30 in this clip. It really hit me at 4.16-4.24. Apparently my type is 'oxygen-deprived lunatics'. Good to know! (Seriously, the weak 'Do you feel anything?' The way he looks up at her? I - I don't know what's wrong with me. He's like a zombie after he takes the bag off his head. I'm not attracted to zombies. Am I attracted to zombies? I really, really hope that I am not attracted to zombies. And he has a plastic bag over his face and he's breathing slowly into it and it is incredibly unsettling to watch and yet it is also somehow - it's - stop bringing out these massively disturbing fetishes in me, Mr Brown.)

I've watched 'Something Wicked This Way Comes' and 'An Evening of Wonders' in the past couple of days, and there really is something disturbingly attractive and attractively disturbing about Derren Brown. He just hovers on the brink of being evil, whilst still being polite and charismatic. A bit like the Master without the genocide.

ANYWAY, NOW THAT I HAVE ALARMED YOU AND MYSELF, SOMETHING LESS DISTURBING.

I CANNOT THINK OF ANYTHING LESS DISTURBING. Which is odd, because quite a lot is less disturbing than 'I am weirdly attracted to a rather creepy man who could probably get me to give up my purse just by asking for it nicely' (that link leads to a video on a site called 'StupidVideos', as the YouTube video does not appear to be available in the UK; if you live elsewhere and would prefer YouTube, try this link. It's only a couple of minutes long, and it's very interesting), but, no, nothing is coming to mind at the moment.

It's not weird until I start writing real-person fiction about him, right?

...right?

Please do not worry, person I do not know and am hijacking the comment of! (er...)

I have also done the ridiculous amount of spending today. What did you choose to spend moneys on? I've been debating it for a while (should I? It's a lot of money. If I do, should I not get the specials boxset? But I like the specials. That is the most expensive though. But I find him most attractive in the specials...etc...etc...until my mind falls off) and then RIONA POSTED THAT CLIP OF THE GLASS THING (which was the bit that first made me fall a bit in love with him) and I went 'FUCK THIS, I DON'T NEED MONEY' and impetuously spent some money.

All of which is a very long-winded and tmi way of saying: you are not alone!

I bought everything, apart from the boxset with the specials in, which shall probably be bought by me at some point, possibly even today. I was also debating with myself, much like you did, until my finger clicked on 'proceed to checkout' before I'd finished thinking "but I don't really have the money, except for my birthday and Christmas money, but that was going to be spent on..." again.

Hurrah! We should form a support group of some kind XD

They were my exact thoughts!

...at this support group, will we watch the dvds and make various remarks about his disturbing creepiness and also attractivosity? If so, I am there. (Possibly this is not the point of a support group. Who cares?)

[identity profile] make-a-move.livejournal.com 2009-01-19 11:34 am (UTC)(link)
It sounds like an excellent support group. We are supporting each other through our discovery of his startling attractiveness, and what better way to do that than watch all his dvds? I personally can't think of one.

[identity profile] moogle62.livejournal.com 2009-01-19 11:54 am (UTC)(link)
Our support group rocks. I suggest that for, er, scientific purposes, we need to rewatch, several times, particularly UNF worthy moments.

Such as him being slapped in the face to count some buttons.

Which moments would you add to this list?

sorry Riona sorry for spamming your journal

[identity profile] make-a-move.livejournal.com 2009-01-19 12:05 pm (UTC)(link)
The slapping of the face, definitely, the whole gleeful explaining 'how-I-made-you-choose-the-Daily-Mail-page-14-influential' bit, especially when he runs over to the envelope, runs back with it, and bounces as he tells the woman to open it, the bit with the schoolchildren in Trick of the Mind (tying their aprons for them ohmygosh adorable)... I have noticed that these are not so much UNF worthy, but rather more adorable moments.

Ooooh, when he rolls up his sleeves before the glass walk, that is very much UNF. I have a thing for rolled up sleeves and forearms. Oh, and any time he wears a waistcoat. Any time. Waistcoats make me flail in sexy joy. Oh! Ninjas! With his mind ninja punch. I find his whole look there to be particularly UNF.

This comment was brought to you by an overabundance of italics.

edit: Oh gosh! And the whole 'Oracle' act with the bandages wrapped around his face. That was the point I became lost to him, I think. I find it rather yummy. Not the bandages, obviously, but the... yeah, I don't know.

I have edited this comment about a gajillion times. Clearly I am AWESOME.

ROLLED UP SLEEVES AND FOREARMS IS LIKE MY BIGGEST KINK EVER, SERIOUSLY. THE FACT THAT YOU HAVE MENTIONED IT MAKES ME IMMEDIATELY SPRING INTO CAPSLOCK BEFORE READING ANY OF THE REST OF YOUR COMMENT.

In the Oracle act, the bandages were indeed UNF worthy, but, er, because I am WRONG in the BRAIN, the fake faint did it for me, like, a lot. (Never apologise for the abundance of italics. And editing is the skill of kings! Kings, I tell you!)

Waistcoats are awesome. Ooooh, and, er, the bits in Evening of Wonders where he's talking about that game where you don't look at the little circle with your fingers? CHILDISH DELIGHT IS AWESOME TOO.

ALSO the sound of his breathing during the glass walk. Er, the message here seems to be: vulnerability and giddiness are hot? What is wrong with us - idk.

[identity profile] make-a-move.livejournal.com 2009-01-19 12:23 pm (UTC)(link)
FAINTING! Yes, the fainting! I had a bit of an 'ooooh' moment at that as well. I am not entirely sure why, however. I think it is the whole 'vunerable' thing... a lot of people who've commented here have said the same thing! IF MORE THAN ONE PERSON THINKS IT, IT'S NOT STRANGE.

I adore his childish delight. So many people who do the sort of thing he does, or claim to be 'real' pyschics, are amazingly stony faced and SRS BZNZ, that it's wonderful to see someone enjoying it all so much.

Alsoalsoalso, your icon. Hngf.

[identity profile] moogle62.livejournal.com 2009-01-19 12:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Do you also watch Rome? Because I swear the ridiculous amount of hot people doing hot things in my academic centre of interest in that programme makes me go EEEEEEE like a tiny child (which would be inappropriate, as in NO WAY should a tiny child watch Rome, unless its parents really wanted a psychologically scarred kid)

It is wonderful to see him enjoying it so much! His little happy faces! :DDD

[identity profile] make-a-move.livejournal.com 2009-01-19 12:33 pm (UTC)(link)
OKAY, MERLIN ICON, YES, YOU ARE EXCELLENT, THIS IS NOW OFFICIAL.

I watch Rome, yes yes yes. And by "watch", I mean, "my friend leant me the boxsets and I watched both series' in about three days straight and then spent forever going 'hngfh' over James Purefoy in eyeliner."

His happy face brings me much joy!

[identity profile] moogle62.livejournal.com 2009-01-19 12:51 pm (UTC)(link)
We must both be excellent then. MERLIN'S LITTLE GRINNING FACE SAYS SO.

James Purefoy in eyeliner. God, that bit at the beginning of s2 where he has that massive spackattack fight with Octavian and they're both rolling around on the floor near the FIRES and hitting each other and swearing and and and wearing NIGHTCLOTHES and and UNGGG

I also love Pullo. He's like the complete opposite of my type, but he's just so nice, and loving and totes doing it with Vorenus

[identity profile] make-a-move.livejournal.com 2009-01-19 02:34 pm (UTC)(link)
And Merlin is all powerful, so he is telling the truth!

James Purefoy is generally phwoar all round.

Pullo and Vorenus, yes yes yes! I rather adored their friendship.

Ahahaha, I glanced at your icon and thought that it was V. I then looked a bit closer, and Gary Oldman, yay! V was yay too though.
