What prompted you to check it out?
I actually saw a trailer years ago, before it came to UK television, that made me think it sounded interesting. What I got from the trailer was 'a bunch of teenagers raised in space are dumped alone on Earth and try to survive', which combines teenage suffering and a fish-out-of-water narrative and is therefore a near-perfect concept for me (it fails to actually be perfect because it involves space, which is bad and scary). So, when Amazon went 'hey, want a free trial of Amazon Prime?' I went 'hey, here's my chance to finally watch that show I've been vaguely interested in for four years!'
